Severe and complex trauma of an upper extremity, such as the hand, brings about drastic life changes. As a hand surgeon, orthoplastic and microsurgeon, Dr. Hacquebord’s passion is treating people with severe injuries through reconstruction. Trained at one of the foremost trauma hospitals in the world, he has honed his skills through additional training with premier surgeons at hospitals in Asia.
At NYU Langone, Dr. Hacquebord addresses complex nerve, vascular, and bony and soft tissue injuries of the upper extremities in patients of all ages. This includes amputations, non-unions, severe wounds, brachial plexus injuries, and children who have complex congenital hand conditions. Many patients seek out Dr. Hacquebord after consulting multiple surgeons, who can provide solutions for conditions often deemed beyond repair.
At the direction of Dr. Hacquebord, the Division of Hand Surgery has established a robust clinical research team that is very active in basic science, translational science, and clinical research. The division focuses heavily in research involving the functional reconstruction of limbs for people who have sustained traumatic injuries involving muscle, bone, skin, blood vessels, and nerves. Under his leadership, the division is regularly involved in clinical trials investigating the most advanced surgical techniques and devices to improve nerve regeneration. Dr. Hacquebord’s work, recognised by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand with a fellowship, has taken him across China and India, ensuring he remains at the forefront of his field.
